Brothers and sisters of Sanford Sayles, 80, who died at Ionia Sunday and was buried at Oakwood cemetery Tuesday, beside his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chapin Sayles, Keene township pioneers.
He leaves William, 93, of Detroit; Cyvenus C. Sayles, 90, Langston; Mrs. Lena Snethen, 88, Granite Falls, Wash.; Montie, 77, Ravenna, Mich.; Mrs. Clifton White, 76, Lowell; Merritt, 83; Frank, 37 (73), Hastings.
Until two years ago Sanford lived for six years with Mr. and Mrs. Clifton White. The preceding twenty-five years he lived at Granite Falls, Washington. The balance of his life was spent in and around Lowell. Montie, Merritt, Frank and Mrs. White attended the funeral, also Frank Sayles, of Muskegon, and Edwin, of Hastings.
Sanford Sayles was born in Keene, Ionia County, February 8, 1848, and passed away Jan. 12, aged nearly 82 years. Was married to Minnie Lee and two children were born to them, a son and daughter, both passing away in the West. Mr. Sayles' life was spent in this vicinity, excepting twenty years in the State of Washington.
