Kathleen Dudley, 87, of Welch, WV passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at her residence, Born December 16, 1928 in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of the late Cicero C. Hurley (1895-Deceased) and Myrtle Bailey-Hurley (1904-Deceased) and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was a 1947 graduate of Gary High School and attended McClain's Business School. After completing her education, she worked for the Welch Milk Company for nine years, followed by the McDowell County Assessor's office where she worked for forty-eight years.

In addition to her career in public service, she also served her community in many other ways, some of those include her membership in organizations, some of which include, She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Welch, and a past Vice President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 8 Welch, WV and the VFW Auxiliary post 144 Iaeger WV, and the Rebekah Lodge, also of Iaeger, WV; she was also a past president of the McDowell County Women's Club, a past Secretary of the McDowell County Humane Society, and a past member of the Women of the Moose.

She also served as a Hospice Volunteer, and a past member of the board of directors of the American Cancer Society. She also served her community as a member of the McDowell County Democratic Executive Committee, and as a past Vice President of the Democratic Women's Club; and she was awarded outstanding Democrat of the year in 1997. She also enjoyed painting and the fellowship of the others in her paint class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, her husband, William L. Dudley (Deceased), one sister, Doris I. Hurley-Heffinger (Deceased), three brothers, James M. Hurley (Deceased), Paul E. Hurley (Deceased), and Donald Hurley (Deceaesd), and one son-in-law, Thomas D. Freeman (Deceased).

Survivors include, one son, William A. Dudley, of Clearwater FL; one daughter, Barbara A. "Babs" Freeman of Welch, WV; one granddaughter, Allison Freeman Blackburn of Welch, WV; one great grandson Cameron Blackburn of Welch, WV; one niece, and several nephews and cousins; and caregivers, Paula Burnoski, Gerald Diggs, Dorothy Campbell, and Amanda Belcher.

Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, August 5, 2016 at 1:00 PM, from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch, WV, with Pastor Fred Vandyke officiating, Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell, WV.
