Anna Mae (Abbott) Brittain Norton

Anna Mae Brittain, Sawyers Street, Somerset, died Monday, September 22, 1997 at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville, Kentucky. She was 87.

Born in the Woodstock community August 6, 1910, she was a daughter of the late John and Dorcas Abbott. She was a retired employee of the Pulaski County and Somerset school systems and a member of East Somerset Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Cloyd (and Emily) Brittain, Pennington Gap, Virginia, Ray (and Ruth) Brittain, Somerset, Noel (and Mary Lee) Brittain, Sparta, Tennessee, and Neal (and Teresa) Brittain, LaGrange, Kentucky; a stepson, Robert (and Shirley) Norton, Symsonia, Kentucky; two daughters, Doris (and John) Dykes, Lexington and Norma (and James) Johnson, Science Hill; 11 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Brittain; her second husband, LaSala Norton; her parents; a stepson, Roger Norton; a daughter, Laverne; three brothers; and five sisters.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Good Hope Cemetery.

Morris and Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Masonic Home in Shelbyville, Kentucky or East Somerset Baptist Church.
