He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Douglas Gillespie; paternal grandparents, L.P. Gillespie and Mozella Wright Gillespie; maternal grandparents, Ollie O’Quinn and Beatrice Mullins O’Quinn; and Black Lab, Apollo, who was his beloved companion for 15 years.
Chris is survived by his mother, Judy O’Quinn Gillespie of the home; two uncles, Danny O’Quinn and wife Terry of Abingdon, Va. and Bobby O’Quinn and wife Linda of Johnson City, Tenn.; two aunts, Sherry Sutton of El Paso, Texas and Bonnie Sue Vanhoy of Chilhowie, Va.; his beloved English Bulldog, Keehlan; cat, Monk; and numerous extended family members.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Dwayne Dillard officiating and special memories by Cristie Blevins Lester. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4th at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Michael Terry, Darrell Boyd, David Hurd, Danny O’Quinn, Jr., Aaron DeBord, Logan DeBord, Addison DeBord, and Tim Lamie will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the brothers of Tau Kappa Epsilon of Radford University. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
