Kelly James Palmer, 36, passed from this life on July 31, 2016. He fought a heroic battle with addiction. Kelly was not weak, but strong. He was born in Pocatello Idaho on January 23, 1980 to Keith and Julia Palmer. He attended Tyhee Elementary, Hawthorne Middle School, Highland High School as well as Idaho State University. He was, by trade, a journeyman electrician.

He married Stephanie Hansen on June 12, 2004 in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple. They were married for 6 years. To this union was born Jack Dean and Talon James. He married Katherine Wornek on April 25, 2014 at the Bannock County Court House. They were married for 2 years. To this union was born Daniel Chance. Though these marriages ended in divorce, they remained friends over the love they shared for each other and their sons.

Kelly served a faithful mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Carlsbad California Mission. He stated these were some of his happiest years. Kelly loved to serve others; this was evidenced in the countless hours spent in service to his grandparents and others.
Above all Kelly had a desire to be a good father. During a three year period of being addiction free Kelly loved and nurtured his children. Their favorite activity together was swimming.

He will be remembered by his family for his wry sense of humor, mischievous smile and tremendous love for his family. We are grateful he no longer suffers in the flesh, but can now soar in spirit.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Kleta Anderson Miller, Tess Campbell Steed and Joseph Dean Steed.

He will be dearly missed by his parents, Keith and Julia Palmer, his siblings, Jarom Palmer, Joel Palmer (Allison Williams), Brett Palmer, Miles Palmer and Jenna Blanchard (Josh Blanchard), his grandfather Jack L. Miller, as well as his many aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews. Most of all he will be missed by his children, Jack Dean Palmer, Talon James Palmer and Daniel Chance Palmer.

Funeral services for Kelly will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the LDS Chapel on Highway 91, between Reservation and Ballard Road, with Bishop Terry Adams conducting. A viewing will be held Wednesday August 3rd from 6-8 pm at Wilks funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road; and from 10-10:45 am prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Mountain view Cemetery.
