Ted Jirik, age 84, of New Prague, died peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague. Ted was born on September 25, 1931 in Lonsdale, MN, to Frank A and Ludmilla A. (Skluzacek) Jirik. Ted graduated from St. Procopius High School in Lisle, IL, and attended Dunwoody Institute. He served in the US Army in Korea during the Korean War. After his military service, he married Mary A. Tuma on February 5, 1955, in Veseli, MN. The couple made their home in Richfield for many years before moving to a farm near Cedar Lake in 1973 and then into New Prague in 2006. Ted worked as a senior grading supervisor for Opus Construction for over 30 years. He was a member of the Knights of Colombus, was sexton for St. Patrick Cemetery, and was very active on numerous committees at St. Patrick of Cedar Lake Church. Ted was the consummate people-person! He was well-known as a great dancer and a very vocal card player, most often being the life of the party! He loved his prolific gardens but the top priority was his family.

Ted is survived by his children, Mary Beth (& Jim) Johnston of Woodbury, MN, Carol Jirik of Minneapolis, MN, Stephanie Hendrickson of St. Louis Park, MN, Nancy (& Randy) Nelson of New Prague, MN, Frank (& Jennifer) Jirik of New Prague, MN, Scott (& Kristin) Jirik of Wausau, WI; sister, Mary Raney of Northfield, MN; sister-in-law, Laura Jirik of Lonsdale, MN; brother-in-law, George Novak of Veseli, MN; 9 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Jirik on April 5, 2015; parents; brothers, Thomas and Frank and Joseph in infancy; sisters, Lillian Valek, Alice Novak, Sister Bernice Jirik, OSF.
