Dr. Dan Jordan Hoerster, of Llano, passed away on Oct. 11 at the age of 80. He was born May 26, 1926 in Mason County to Pearl (Jordan) and Dan John Hoerster. He married Delana Newnam on Sept. 2, 1950 in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Dan was a member of Lions Club, Hill Country Live Stock Raisers Association, Llano Athletic Booster Club, and past president of Llano ISD School Board, and a long time member of Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church.

Dr. Dan served in the navy during World War II. After the war he went to medical school and upon graduation he moved to Llano where he lived the remainder of his life. He practiced medicine there from 1953 to 1988, and served countless people over the years in that capacity.

Survivors include wife, Delana "Dee" Hoerster; daughters, Janie Rutherford and husband Steve of Duncanville, Texas, Diane Willmann and husband David of Llano; sons, Jimmy Hoerster and wife Karen of Llano, David Hoerster and wife Malinda of Llano, Gerry Hoerster and wife Kim, Georgetown, Texas; brother, Richard Hoerster, Fredericksburg, Texas; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service was held on Oct. 13 at Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church in Llano with Rev. David Griffin officiating. Interment followed at Llano City Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either Llano Memorial Hospital or Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers were to include: Ryan Willmann, Ross Willmann, Davis Willmann, Tyler Hoerster, Daniel Hoerster, Dillon Hoerster, Garrett Rutherford, and Forest Hoerster.

Honorary pallbearers will include his host of many friends.
