Kenneth S. Snowden, age 95, of Wayne, Ohio passed away July 26, 2016 at his home. He was born March 2, 1921 in Earlville, Illinois to the late Sharon C. & Mary F. (Mauer) Snowden. He married June A. Mathis December 17, 1955 in Miami, Florida and she passed away on January 26, 2010. He is survived by his son, Trent (Kim) Snowden of Wayne, Ohio, daughter in law, Susan Snowden of Johnstown, Ohio, brother, Maurice Snowden of Wayne, Ohio, grandchildren, Chase, Christine, Kylie & Treg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sharon & Mary, wife, June, sons, James L., & Michael S. Snowden, brother, Harold Snowden, sisters, Pauline Lahman, & Lucille Mitchell. He graduated from Montgomery Local High School and Bowling Green State University with a bachelor degree in Mathematics and Physics. He served in the United States Air Corp as a pilot during WWII where he spent 1 year in India flying supplies mostly gasoline and bombs to China over the Himalaya Mountains. He had to bail out in China and was missing in action during Christmas in 1943. His twin brother Harold who was also a pilot in the Navy was also missing in action at the same time. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and the Chinese Service Medal from the Peoples Republic of China as well as being a member of the Hump Pilots Association. He was a lifelong farmer. He served on the Elmwood School Board, Midwood Board, Wood County Farm Bureau, and the Prairie Farmer’s Farm Council. He was a member of the Wayne United Methodist Church and served as Chairman of the Administrative Board. Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am, July 30, 2016 at the Wayne United Methodist Church in Wayne, Ohio where a Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11am Saturday with Pastor Vernagaye Sullivan officiating. Following the Celebration of Life Service at the church a bereavement luncheon will be held at Trent & Kim’s home. Burial will be private in Graham Cemetery near Wayne, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Wayne United Methodist Church.
