Harry Grant Jr., of Santa Maria CA, passed away peacefully at his home, December 11, 2014, just short of his 82nd birthday. Harry was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 13, 1932. He moved to California and worked in Los Angeles prior to relocating to Santa Maria. Harry retired from Axelson Inc. as a District Manager, after 35 years with the company. He loved bowling, golf, camping, fishing and watching his RAMS on television. Harry was a member of the Elks Lodge #1538, Orcutt American Legion, Moose Lodge, and a Past President of the Orcutt Lions Club.
In 1984, he married Margaret Rodriguez and inherited her seven children. Margaret and Harry traveled in their RV throughout the West Coast. Upon Harry's retirement, they settled in Shady Cove, Oregon and lived there for 15 years. In 2010, they moved back to Santa Maria to be near their family.
Harry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Margaret Grant. He is also survived by his seven step-children Donna Dart, Ernie Rodriguez, Rod Rodriguez (Cheri), Teresa O'Sullivan (Kerry), Patti Rodriguez, David Rodriguez (Dawn), and Marsha Barnette (Mike). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Gertrude, three children Roger Grant, Bonnie Grant, Marion Grant and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 1:00pm at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary in Santa Maria. A private family internment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to St. Joseph High School in memory of Harry Grant.
