Ann Thoryk Harrison, 92, of Berwick, died on July 31, 2016, at her home after a short illness.
Born October 31, 1923, in the Austria/Hungary Empire, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Lahowska) Thoryk.
A graduate of the Coughlin High School Class of 1943, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Ann went on to become a stenographer in both Philadelphia and the Berwick AC&F during World War II. Ann was a stay-at-home mother while her children were young. In 1967, she began her sixteen-year career with Consolidated Cigar Plant in Berwick, retiring in 1983.
Ann was an avid reader of world history, as well as a very devoted grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, the late Michael J. Harrison, Jr., who died on June 4, 2011; three sisters: Mary DeFebo, Helen Rombilus, and Sandra Crouse; and three brothers: Baby John Thoryk, Bill Thoryk, and John Thoryk.
She is survived by two daughters: Joanne Berkheiser and her husband Richard, of Bloomsburg; Kathleen Yodock and her husband Leo, of Bloomsburg; two grandsons: Ryan Berkheiser; Will Berkheiser and his wife Dawn, as well as her great-granddaughter Audrey Anne Berkheiser. Ann was looking forward to the birth of a second great-granddaughter.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Chestnut Street, Berwick, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Demko, her pastor, officiating. A private interment will be held in Fern Knoll Cemetery, in Dallas, PA.
