Dr Margaret Isabelle Pfau, 51, chairman of the English Dept at Youngstown State University, died in North Side Hospital, after a long illness.

Born July 6, 1921, in Youngstown, a daughter of William E. and Belle Young Pfau, she was a graduate of the Rayen School, earning her bachelor of arts at Wellesley College, her masters at Case Western Reserve University and her doctorate at Radcliffe. She was a lieutenant junior grade during World War II, serving as a Japanese language interpreter in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a niece of former U.S. Senator Stephen M. Young.

Miss Pfau leaves her mother at home; a brother, Atty Wm E. Pfau of Youngstown; three nieces and two nephews.
