Born in Hanover County, Virginia to William Slaughter and his wife Sarah. Mother died during or shortly after the Revolutionary War, and her father took she and her brother to Washington County, Tn. where he took a teaching job at Washington College. She married Robert McAdams in 1799 and had three children with him. Robert died in 1823. In 1852 she received a Bounty Land grand patent for Robert's War of 1812 service, which she sold. She did sign the court document, indicating that she was literate. Not surprising as her father was a school teacher. At this time she was living with daughter Nancy McAdams Renshaw in Washington County. This is the last written record found for her, so she died after 1852. Place of death or burial not recorded.
