Marie Joseph Ory Pinaire along with her family of nine children emigrated to America from France. They arrived in New Orleans, LA in February 1847 on the ship TALMA after a 60 day voyage. Her husband, Jean Claude Pinaire, had died in France in 1835. Theodule Felician was the oldest son, 26, then came John Baptiste Prosper, Jean Catherine, Theodule Eugene, Theodore C., Jean Jules, Eugenia Elysse, Jean Marie, and Hippoline. They traveled on to Indiana and settled in Harrison County where many French families were settling in the community called Frenchtown, Indiana. Marie Joseph purchased a large tract of land, a valley, that became known as Pinaire Valley. It was also called Clover Valley. While the land is no longer owned by the family, street signs show the location of their home. Felician married Marie Stephon Boucard in 1850. They had eleven children. Felician and Marie Stephon are buried in the Old Frenchtown Cemetery. It's unknown where Marie Joseph is buried.
