Robert first appears in will of father Thomas McAdams in 1810, Washington County, TN. along with brothers John & Hugh. He wed Mary "Polly" Slaughter, In Washington County, on June 27, 1799. She was the daughter of William Slaughter, a Revolutionary War veteran. Robert fought in the War of 1812. He was a private in Company commanded by Captain Henry McCray in Col. Allison's 3rd Regiment of E. Tenn. Militia. He was drafted at Jonesborough, Tn, for the term of six months on the 1st day of Jan. 1814, & continued in actual service in said war for the term of six months & was honorably discharged at Jonesboro, on or about the 13th of July, 1814. When his widow applied for his death benefit she gave his date of death but not place of burial. Know only that it was in Washington County. Grave either unmarked or unreadable stone as are many from that era.
