Hilda was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Taneytown. She worked at the Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown and operated a daycare out of her home. She enjoyed collecting dolls, completing jigsaw puzzles, playing BINGO, sitting on her front porch, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are five children, John “Bob” Wilson and wife Sharon of New Windsor, Harold “Butch” Wilson of Hanover, PA, Barbara Mahaney and husband Gary of Thurmont, Diana Hahn and husband Ronald of Sabillasville, and David “Gus” Wilson and wife Teresa of Westminster; two sisters, LaRue Thomas of Littlestown, PA, and Patty Dowla and husband “Mez” of Pasadena; a brother, Guy Pittinger of Rocky Ridge; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Harvey “Buddy” Pittinger, Jr. and Elwood Pittinger; four sisters, Dorothy Cavell, Mary Catherine and Emma Pittinger, and Cora Setherly; and a great-granddaughter, Xena.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, 21787, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Creagerstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
