Leon A. Scoville, 97, of Rigby, Idaho, died on July 30, 2016, in Holladay, Utah.
He was born October 26, 1918 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was the firstborn child of Leon A. Scoville, Sr. and Edythe Ainsworth Scoville.
He attended schools in the Idaho Falls area. He served in the Army during World War II.
On December 25, 1945, he married Zora I. Groom in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 23, 1983.
He was a life-time member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1004 and participated in many military funeral rights. He was a well-known auto mechanic, working for over 30 years in Rigby.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne’ H. Clayton of Boise and Susan A. Nelson (Mark) of Salt Lake City; a son, Len L. Scoville (Dena) of Farmington, Utah; sister Alene Vieira of Antioch, California; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zora, brother Marvin Scoville, sisters Maxine Huth, Jody Ruiz and an infant brother, Harold.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 4, 11:00 a.m., at Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. before services. Interment will be in the Ucon Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home
