Mr. Hatfield died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport.
He was employed 30 years as an electrician at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He retired in 1994.
Gerald Dean Hatfield was born Sept. 28, 1932, in Sewal, Iowa, to Ray and Cleva (Entsminger) Hatfield. He married Joan M. Ellison on April 24, 1954, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Davenport.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and United Auto Workers Local 863, East Moline.
Gerald "Red" was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was an avid sports enthusiast.
Memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation or American Heart Association.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and John Ward, a daughter, Kim Smith, and sons and daughters-in-law, Pastor Kerry and Carol Hatfield and Kevin and Lynn Hatfield, all of Davenport; a son, Kris Hatfield, Elmhurst, Ill.; grandchildren, Angel, Craig, Brock, Drew, Trent and Sara; a sister, Patricia Gordon, Davenport; a sister and brother-in-law, Rae Ann and William Lowe, St. Louis; a brother, Donald Hatfield, East Moline; and a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Barbara Hatfield, Davenport.
