Black Mountain - Joseph Mae Collins Clements went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, Jan. 30, 2004.

She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lula Dehart Collins and was preceded in death by one sister, Katie Collins; and three brothers, Kelse, Cleve and Jack Collins.

Mrs. Clements was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Swain County and was a resident of Black Mountain for most of her life. She had been an employee at Singer Kerfott as an inspector. She was a member of Lakey Gap Presbyterian Church and had been attending Meadow Brook Freewill Baptist Church until her illness. In past years, she had been very active in work at Lakey Gap. She worked with Pastor C.W. Soloman in establishing the Summer Camp Missionary Plantation in Ellenboro.

Mrs. Clements will be remembered for her love and hard work in building the youth program at Lakey Gap Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Raymond Clements; one son, Robert 'Bob' and wife, Linda, of Decula, Ga.; four sisters, Gladys Elliott of Satsuma, Fla., Mildred Collins of Black Mountain, Irene Stephenson of Swannanoa and Gerri Davis of Enterprise, Ala.; one brother, Dexter Collins of Black Mountain; and two grandchildren, Brad and Kelly Clements of Dacula.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Meadow Brook Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Stone and David Parks officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church following the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence at 200 Blue Ridge Road, Black Mountain.

Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Candler.

The family would like to give many thanks to Tami Ballew and Mildred Collins for all their care and service.

Flowers are accepted and appreciated. Flowers may be delivered to the church between the hours of 12;15 and 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
