Steven Ray Brooks was born November 22, 1964 to Ardell Chatman and Cecille Strong. He was one of seven children.
Steven attended Okmulgee Public Schools. He later joined the United States Marines Corps, where he served from 1986-1991.
He was also a devoted worker at Polyvision in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
In 2006 he married Elaine Antwine. From this union, they had two children.
On July 23, 2016 the Lord chose to called Steven home.
Steven was preceded in death by his son, Steven Ray Brooks Jr., and his sister Jamie Brooks.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: his loving wife, Elaine Brooks and daughter, Jaslin Tashiya Rae Brooks, of the home, daughters, Alicia Rawshawn Brooks, Okmulgee, OK; Stephanie Ray Brooks; Fairland, OK; stepchildren, Makia Anderson, Beggs, OK; Brandon(April) Anderson, Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Jhaniyah Tate and Braylin Anderson, his mother, Cecille Strong, Wichita, KS; Kimberly Chatman, Tulsa, OK; three brothers, Alan (Diana) Turner; Kansas; Ardell Chatman Jr., Georgia, and Brian (Jeabby) Chatman of Florida; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A Home Going service is scheduled for Saturday, July 30, 2016, 2:00 p.m., St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 E. Chicago, Okmulgee, OK. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Okmulgee.
Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home.
