Troy Hampton departed this life on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital in Barbourville, Kentucky being 76 years, 1 month and 10 days of age. He was born in Knox County, Kentucky on June 20, 1940 to the late Henderson Hampton and the late Barbara Lee Hampton.

On November 29, 1963 he married the love of his life. Edith Mills Hampton and to this union one son was born.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Troy Douglas Hampton and several brothers and sisters.

Troy loved the people of Knox County and served them faithfully throughout the years. He served as Coroner from 1970 to 1973, County Judge from 1974 to 1977 and was elected Knox County Clerk in 1978 and served for over 20 years until 1998. During his tenure in public office he served in various capacities on various boards and committees. Troy was the founder and proprietor of Hampton Funeral Home since 1975, and opened the doors of its current location in 1988. He believed in the Baptist Faith and was a member of East Barbourville Baptist Church.

Troy leaves behind to mourn his passing his loving and devoted wife of over 52 years Edith Hampton; his granddaughter who was his pride and joy Taylor Nicole Hampton; one sister Cleo Bruner of Girdler; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Earl and Betty Smith, Christine Adams, Glennis Mills, Barbara and Dennis Earley, Evelyn Mills, Lovella Dugger, Evelyn Hampton and Lois Mills; and a host of Nieces and Nephews whom he enjoyed immensely along with many other Family and Friends.

A funeral service for Troy Hampton will be conducted on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM at East Barbourville Baptist Church with Rev. James Vandy and Rev. Josh Smith officiating. Special Music will be offered by Dennis Earley, Josh Smith and Allison Parsons and the choir of East Barbourville Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery with Greg Helton, Mike Mills, Geoff Mills, Tim Davis, Rick Broughton, Todd Mills, Patrick Earley and Michael Earley serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom O'dell Smith, Ray Blair Canady, Jack Ketcham, Dale Owens, Dwaine Bellfeuille, All East Barbourville Baptist Church Members, All Past & Present Staff of Hampton Funeral Home, All Past & Present Knox County Officials and His Neighbors and Friends. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM and on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at East Barbourville Baptist Church.
