Son of Hugh and Sarah Hays Hughes, he was married, lived on Railroad St. in Polk, was a gardener at Polk State School, died at the Franklin Hospital where he'd been 30 days of a cerebral hemorrhage and arteriosclerosis, per death certificate 18786, whose informant was Mrs. Jacob Hughes.

Jacob Plumer Hughes, 75, of Railroad Street, Polk, died at 11:15 am today in Franklin Hospital, where he had been 30 days. He was born April 19, 1879, in Frenchcreek Township, son of Hugh and Sarah Hayes Hughes.

He was a florist and gardener by trade, and worked 14 years for Deyoe Florist Co. in Oil City, then for 12 years in gardening and greenhouse work at Polk State School. Ill health forced him to retire, and he has been confined to his home for 3 years. He was a member of Nicklin Methodist Church, and lived in the county almost all his life.

On Dec. 19, 1900, in Polk Methodist Church he married Mary Webber, who survives, with a son, Evan L. Hughes of Detroit, MI; six grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Clara Runninger of Franklin. Deceased are 4 children.

Services will be at 2 pm Friday at Burger Funeral Home with his pastor, Rev. P. C. Heilbrun, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
