On July 13, 2016, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his home in Arlington, VA. Loving father and brother, he is survived by his mother, his daughter and her mother; his brothers, two brothers and a sister-in-law; his niece and his nephew. Steve was preceded in death by his father, James E. Alatis.

A graduate of TC Williams High School and Georgetown University, Steve worked for Countywebsite.com for over 12 years and battled Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) for eight years. Through his long battle with ALS, the one most important thing to him was his daughter and her wellbeing. Before becoming ill he was an avid golfer, he loved to travel, and gamble. He once won a jackpot in the Virginia lottery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA, from 4 to 7 p.m. (with a Trisagion Service at 6:30 p.m.). Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at St. Katherine''s Greek Orthodox Church, 31496 Glen Carlyn Rd., Falls Church, VA 22041. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made for the education of Alexa Alatis care of The Anthony Alatis Trust at, 1515 S. Arlington Ridge Rd. #703, Arlington, VA 22202.
