John Darrell Higdon, age 66, retired union carpenter of Eastview, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Grayson County, KY., son of Hurley John and Juanita Johnston Higdon.

He is survived by his mother: Juanita Higdon, two daughters: DeEdra Higdon Claggett (Earl) of Eastview, and Mistie Higdon Brooks (Tim) of Caneyville; three grandchildren: Danisha Yates (Sean), Reed Elmore and Jase Brooks.

Also surviving: eight brothers: Barry Higdon (Bobbie Jean) of Leitchfield, Kerry Higdon (Pattie) of Elizabethtown, Dale Higdon (Sue) Neil Higdon, and Timmy Higdon all of Big Clifty, Keith Higdon (Connie) of St. Paul, Dennis Higdon (Cindy) of Clarkson and Dr. Norris Higdon (Mona) of Leitchfield; three sisters: Joan Chaney (Jimmy) and Jeanie Higdon of Big Clifty, and Sharolyn Kipper of Elizabethtown.

He was proceeded in death by his father; Hurley John Higdon, one niece Jenna Higdon and one nephew Christian Higdon.

John Darrell Higdon, 66, of Eastview, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 5, 1950, the son of Juanita Johnston Higdon and the late Hurley John Higdon. He was a retired union carpenter. Survivors include two daughters, DeEdra Higdon Claggett (Earl) of Eastview and Mistie Higdon Brooks (Tim) of Caneyville; three grandchildren, Danisha Yates (Sean), Reed Elmore and Jase Brooks; eight brothers, Barry Higdon (Bobbie Jean) of Leitchfield, Kerry Higdon (Patty) of Elizabethtown, Dale Higdon (Sue), Neil Hogdon and Timmy Hogdon, all of Big Clifty, Keith Higdon (Connie) of St. Paul, Dennis Higdon (Cindy) of Clarkson and Dr. Norris Higdon (Mona) of Leitchfield; and three sisters, Joan Chaney (Jimmy) and Jeanie, all of Big Clifty and Sharolyn Kipper of Elizabethtown. The funeral is at 11 a.m. CDT Monday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with the Rev. Steve Hohman officiating. Burial follows in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. CDT Sunday and continues at 9 a.m. CDT Monday at the church. A prayer service is at 6 p.m. CDT Sunday at the church. Roger-Oller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
