William S. McAdams was a cabinet maker and farmer in Washington County, Tn. In the spring and summers he also worked with his brother Thomas M. and brother-in-law John McNeal and other relatives in the flatboat trade, taking goods down the French, Broad, Tennessee, Ohio, and Mississippi Rivers to sell in New Orleans. William Married Eleanor McNeal December 22, 1830 in Washington County. She was a sister to Elizabeth McNeal, who was married to his brother Thomas M. Both women were sisters of John McNeal. He died in 1842, leaving his family with but a meager estate. His middle name may well have been Slaughter, as this was his mother's maiden name. He died in Washington County and is buried there, but grave is either unmarked or with an unreadable stone.
