Johnny Ward, Sr. – Of Grand Blanc, age 73, died Friday, July 29, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Reverend Ernest E. Davis and Pastor Darrell Ward officiating.

Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.

Johnny was born in Hurley, Virginia on December 11, 1942, the son of the late Earl and Blanche Ward. On June 15, 1963, he married Billie Hale in Flint and she preceded him in death on August 17, 2015. Johnny worked at Flint V8 for 38 years, retiring in 2000 and he was a member of UAW Local #659. He was also a member of Burton Eagles #3814. Johnny loved to garden, golf, bowl, dancing and mowing lawns. He also loved to chew his bubble gum, loved NASCAR and Jeff Gordon #24.

Surviving are children, John Jr.(Jennifer), Eric (Debbie) and Cyndi (Mike) Church; grandchildren, Danielle, Tayler, Allie, Chelsea, Jared, Tony, Adam, Celeste and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Aubree, Kaden, Zach and Zoey; sisters, Betty (Michael) Polovina, Donrita (Greg) Blackwood, Ruth Tilley and Kimberly (Bill) Lucius; dear friends, Charlotte Krawczyk, Vivian Rhyndress; many nieces and nephews;
and his loyal dog, Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie, on August 17, 2015, sister, Beverly Respass and brother, Roger Lee Ward Sr.
