John David Siefken, 55, of Burlington, died at Great River Medical Center.

Born in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Chester J. and Ann M. Newell Siefken. On October 11, 1980, he married Monica Marie Stoller in Burlington.

John was a material controller at General Electric for 30 years.

He was a 1969 graduate of Burlington Notre Dame.

He was a member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church. John helped to start the Christian Experience Weekend in the Burlington area and was actively involved for the last five years. He also helped with the Family Reunion Program at his church for eight years. He was a historical interpreter for the Old Fort Madison for many years, a hunter and fisherman, enjoyed canoeing, and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the 7th Iowa Civil War Skirmish Unit, and was involved in the Civil War Reenactment in Keokuk. He was very passionate about life and serving others.

Survivors include his wife, Monica; his mother, Ann; one sister, Kay (David) Eaton of Burlington; one sister–in–law, Stephanie (Jerry) Staff of Burlington; one brother–in–law, Gregory (Gail) Stoller of Columbus Junction; nieces, Andrea (Paul) Warren, Alaina Eaton, Erin (Jason) Vorwerk, Barbara (Keelan) Parham; nephews, Eric Stoller, Shaun Stoller; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

The Mass of the Resurrection was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Bob Miller as the Celebrant and Rev. Father William R. Wiegand as the concelebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir.
