Sarah Deatherage Brandon was born about 1824 in Roane County Tennessee to parents Abner Deatherage and Elizabeth Morrison Deatherage. On 30 May 1844 she married Alexander English Brandon of Greene County, Tennessee. They moved first to Newton County, Missouri, and then by 1870 to Falls County, Texas, where it is assumed that Alexander died. They had children: William K. Brandon, Ruth Mae Brandon Smith, Dudley Jolly Brandon, Elizabeth Brandon, Mary Rebecca Brandon, Alexander Brandon, Richard Samuel Brandon, and Lee Brandon. Sarah has Texas descendants in Hamilton County and Mills County. She also have descendants in Arizona and many other places as well. Sarah is buried near Evant, Texas, on the west side of the old Gholson Road, on the Marwitz place. Hers is a single stone visible from the road.
