Johnnie was my grandma's brother..he lived in Goldendale,WA
He served with distinction in the Army in World War 2. He was awarded a Bronze Star for single-handedly destroying a Japanese gun placement on Attu in 1943, he also killed 30 Japanese that were in 60 feet of him. He was a gunner in a 60-MM mortar squadron.
He was the son of Lela and Daniel Thomson. He was born June 22 1916.
He was married to Gealdine DeClerk in 1946, they later divorced.
He was pre-ceeded in death by his parents, two sisters, Coleen and Anna.
He is survived by twin daughters, Debbie and her husband of BrushPrarie,WA and Judy and her husband of Troutdale,OR, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and one sister Lorena.
Internment was held in Mt. View veterens section in Goldendale Washington.
He truly was a hero!
