Robert Bruce Eaglesham passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 15, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Newark, Robert grew up in Bloomfield, where he ran track for Bloomfield High School. He graduated with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Engineering, both from Newark College of Engineering. He lived in Montclair and retired to Island Heights, NJ in 1997. He worked for Singer-Kearfott for most of his career as an Engineering Manager. He led several Space Shuttle programs for NASA and Rockwell International Space Division, including the KT-70 IMU for Space Shuttle Columbia, the Space Shuttle/Hains Program, and Space Shuttle Space Transportation System. He also participated in developing Black Hawk Helicopter Gyro Systems.

Robert was drafted to the US Army and received honorable discharge in 1965. He was a Specialist Four (E-4) for Battery C 2d Missile Battalion (HERC) 562d Artillery APO 937. Robert was a fan of sports cars who owned two Austen Healey's and in the 1950's raced them with the Sports Car Club of America. He was the President of the Home & School Association in Bloomfield.

Robert was an integral part of the Island Heights United Methodist Church community where he was the President of the Methodist Men's Club, the Finance Chairman and a member of the choir. He was also an avid fisherman who created the "Teach a Kid to Fish" program for local children. He was a member of the Berkeley Striper Club and won the Bill Sculerati Award in 1995.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Martha Jane (nee Altland), son David Eaglesham of Island Heights, daughter Laura Hollyer and son-in-law Richard of Union Twp., two brothers, Allan Eaglesham of New York, NY, and John Eaglesham & his wife Lucy of Solvang, CA, a sister Jean Davis of Marco Island, FL, three grandchildren Grant, Faith & Bryce Hollyer, and four nieces and nephews, John & Elaine Eaglesham, Allan Davis & Jean Henry.

The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday 2-4PM & 7-9PM at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A funeral service will be held Friday 10:00AM at the Island Heights United Methodist Church, 111 Ocean Ave, Island Heights. Burial to follow at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
