Raymond Richard Rowland, 67, of Thomasville, formerly of Blackshear, passed away suddenly Saturday, September 5, 2015, surrounded by his family, at the John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.

He was born in Ware County (Waycross) October 21, 1947 to the late Rev. Charles Wesley Rowland and Minnie Dean Rowland. Besides his parents, he was preceded by seven brothers and two sisters.

He completed the 11th grade at Blackshear High School and later received his GED. At age 17, he enlisted into the Navy and served two tours in Vietnam, where he received honors and commendations. Airman Aviation Ordnance First Class D6 Rowland retired from the Navy after 20+ years. He also worked at Lockheed five years and was a warehouse manager for Total line and Division Carrier for 11 years.

Survivors include his partner and love of 23 years Roxanne Brinson; his step-children, Victoria and Charles; his three children, Tammy, Buddy and Randy; seven grandchildren; his brother, Donald C. Rowland (Faye), Blackshear; his sister, Clara Jean Creech, Denton; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Rowland and Winnie Rowland both of Blackshear and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, from the Alabaha Free Will Baptist Church, Georgia Highway 203, Blackshear.

Memorialization is by cremation.
