Albartus "Al" C. Adkins, age 81 of Frankford, DE passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Al was born in Ocean City, MD son of the late, Ralph and Beatrice (Clark) Adkins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Al was a retired insurance agent for the Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company, now known as American General Life. He also was the owner and operator of The Butcher Shop in Dagsboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren. Al is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Norma (Lewis) Adkins; four sons, James C. Adkins and his wife Maria, Thomas A. Adkins, Steven A. Adkins and his wife Susan, and Jody L. Adkins and his wife Katie; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 11:30 am at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, DE, where friends may call after 10:30 am. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Al's memory to, The River Wesleyan Church, 35175 Roxana Rd, Frankford, DE 19945.
