Joshua Aaron Reed, 30, of Pullman, Wash., passed away suddenly early in the morning of July 23, 2016, in Moses Lake, Wash. He suffered a cardiac arrest at the home of Scott and Evi Reed.

He was born in Freeman, S.D., on April 1, 1986. Joshua received his AMP, Airframe and Power Plant License and Associate of Science degree from Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake in 2004.

Joshua entered the U.S. Army in 2005 and served six years as an Apache Helicopter Crew Chief Mechanic. He served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan and was awarded many medals of honor. He was currently employed as a helicopter mechanic with Metro Aviation as the base mechanic for MedStar in Pullman.

Joshua was single and had a passion for mechanics, airplanes, helicopters, tools, cars, hunting, fishing, video games and karaoke.

He is survived by his mother, Carla M. Reed of Liberty Lake, Wash.; his father, Robert E. Reed of Sterling, Colo.; and their children and spouses, Steven Todd Reed and wife Stacie of Garretson, S.D., Scott Adam Reed and wife Evi of Moses Lake, and his sister, Anne Michelle Reed Wagner and husband Daniel of Losantville, Ind. He gained two additional siblings, Carly Reed and Matthew Reed, children of Robert Reed and Mary Reed. They reside in Rapid City, S.D. He has 15 nieces and nephews; and two grand-nephews residing in South Dakota and Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Gateway Church in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Flowers can be sent to the church. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at the Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery in Medical Lake, Wash. He will be escorted by the Veteran’s Patriot Guard Riders and given full military honors.
