Howard John Borchelt, 69, R.R.2, Batesville, Ind., died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 5, 1988, at his home.
He was born Dec. 21, 1918, in Batesville, Ind., the son of Adam and Emma Kramer Borchelt. He was a bricklayer, retired from the Batesville Masonry Co., Batesville, Ind. He married Dorothy Westmeyer in Friendship, Ind., June 17, 1939, and she survives. He was a lifetime member of the St. John's Brotherhood and the St. John's Breakfast Club. He was the former treasurer of the Volunteer Rural Fire Department of Batesville, Ind.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Irvin Borchelt, Flint, Mich.; four daughters, Evelyn Holman, Sharpsville, Ind., Shirley Marcum, Indianapolis, Arlene Neyer, Greenwood, Ind., and Beverly Schwier, Batesville, Ind.; one sister, Emma Gessell, Batesville, Ind., and eight grandchildren.
One brother, Evert Borchelt, preceded him in death.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John's United Church of Christ, Batesville, Ind., with the Rev. David Johnston officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Batesville, Ind.
The family suggests that memorials go to the St. John's Cemetery Fund or to the Batesville Volunteer Fire Department.
