PLEASANT VALLEY, Iowa - Zachary O. Sullivan, 18, of Pleasant Valley, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 7, 2009. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009, at the Runge Mortuary. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Zachary Sullivan Fund at Ascentra Credit Union.
Zach was born March 9, 1990, in Davenport, to Loretta and Patrick Sullivan. Zach was a 2007 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School where he excelled in wrestling. He had been employed at Franks Pizza in Bettendorf and most recently worked at Davenport Country Club.
Zach was very active in his Native American culture and its beliefs. He was a member of the Wolf Clan of the South Cherokee Nation and had participated in powwows.
Zach loved hanging with his friends, listening to music, and working on his car. His family was the center of his life, especially his nephew and niece, Nene and Brooklyn.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Loretta and Tim Sipes, Pleasant Valley; father, Patrick Sullivan, Dayton, Ohio; sister, Kiesha (Steven) Evans, Davenport; stepbrother, Dylan Sipes, Chicago; half brother, Patrick Sullivan, Ft. Worth, Texas; and grandparents, George and Carmen Sipes, Hayward, Wis.
Zach was preceded in death by his sister, Kirstie Sullivan.
