Mr. Leslie “Les” Lawrence, of North Branch Township, passed away at the age of 75 years 8 months and 18 days on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at McLaren Lapeer Region of Lapeer, Michigan.

Leslie Francis, the son of the late Walter and the late Violet (Schmidt) Lawrence, was born November 8, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Detroit and was a 1959 graduate of East Detroit High School.

On June 24, 1961, Leslie was united in marriage with Miss Sandra Vicars in Warren, Michigan. They lived in Warren and moved to the North Branch area in 1968.

Les was employed by Warren Hydromatic “Powertrain” and General Motors as a Quality Control Inspector where he retired after 30 years of work.

Les loved to spend time with his family, gardening, and especially growing and canning tomatoes.

He was a Deacon at Crossroads Baptist Church. Most of all, he loved the Lord with all his heart and he would get up at 5:00 a.m. each morning to study his Bible.

The funeral will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Crossroads Baptist Church of Imlay City, Michigan. Reverend Kenneth Renard, pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church, will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Burial will follow at Burnside Township Cemetery, Brown City, Michigan.

Leslie Francis, the son of the late Walter and the late Violet (Schmidt) Lawrence, was born November 8, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Detroit and was a 1959 graduate of East Detroit High School.

On June 24, 1961, Leslie was united in marriage with Miss Sandra Vicars in Warren, Michigan. They lived in Warren and moved to the North Branch area in 1968.
