On April 28, 1953, Esther married the love of her life, Eugene Helle at Sand Springs, Iowa. They farmed together for many years east of Dundee. Upon retirement, they moved to Manchester.
Esther was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed playing cards and attending dances with Gene.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Gene Helle of Manchester; her siblings, Donna (Loras) Manternach of Masonville, Joyce (Clarence) Freisinger of Minnesota, and Kenneth (Mary) Lahr of Delhi; and one sister-in-law, Joan Lahr of Hopkinton.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard Lahr, in infancy, and James Lahr; and her mother- and-father-in-law, Anna Stacia and William Helle.
