Marcella Wilson, 91, of Collinsville, formerly of Carbondale died at 1:50 am, Monday, July 25, 2016 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, IL.
She was born October 30, 1924 in Elkville, IL, the daughter of Millard and Ruth (Stamm) Martin. She married Freddy Wilson December 27, 1974. Together they shared 40 wonderful years.
Marcella was a nurse LPN at Doctors Hospital in Carbondale for 10 years and worked in Pediatrics at Carbondale Clinic for 25 years. She retired in 1988. She loved antiquing and collecting dishes. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, James (Claudia) Spezia and her daughter, Joyce (Terry) Biegert; grandson, James Spezia; granddaughter, Deborah (Larry) Schmitt; step granddaughter, Dawn Day; two great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; special friend, Yvonne Spezia; other relatives and many friends.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Amel Eugene Spezia; husbands, Amel Spezia and Freddy Wilson; sister, Lois Jones; grandson, David Lee Lindsey; infant great grandson, Nicholas Andrew Schmitt.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Eric Hanson officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.
