Obituary for Gregory L Brown
Gregory Lynn Brown aka “Cave Man”, 56, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019 at Johnson City Medical Center with family by his side.

Greg was a native of Johnson City, TN and the son of Boyce Young and the late Naneva Young.

Greg loved to fish and was an avid UT fan. He was also compassionate and loved to laugh and had a love for people with disabilities.

In addition to his mother, he was proceeded in death by his wife, Janice Marie Brown; a daughter, Santoya Denise Taylor; a brother, Ricky Brown; sisters, Jackie Brown and Myra Brown; niece, Nikki Mills; nephews, Defadrus Hale and Trey Alaman.

He is survived by sons: Greg Jr., Johnson City, Steven Davis (Teresa) Knoxville, Bobby Porter, Johnson City, Brian Porter, Kingsport. Daughters: Nicreshea Taylor, Johnson City, Candice Porter, Seattle, Washington. Grandchildren: Shayla Porter, Darian Delapp, Haley Bowers and Caleb Risk. Three sisters: Lavonya Smith (Paul) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sylvia Young of Arlington, Texas and Kathy Mills (Cecil), Greeneville. Three nieces: Heather Gomez of Greeneville, Kate Tucker, Johnson City and Neosha Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada. Nephews: Clay Mills of Nashville, John Tucker and Tyrone Young, Johnson City, Paul Smith, Jr. of Orem, Utah. Four special great-nephews and one very special great-niece. Numerous family and friends and special friends Carl Fink and Angie Hale.

The family extends much appreciation and thanks to all the doctors and nursing staff on the 2600 ICU floor at the Johnson City Medical Center for everything they did for Greg. We would like to thank everyone for all the thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30pm Friday January 18, 2019 at the Birchette Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until 1:30pm at the chapel prior to the services. Interment will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens.

***Prior to the services, the family will be receiving friends at the home of his Dad, Boyce Young; 1100 Henry St., Johnson City, TN.
