He married Berniece "Bernie" Goudy on May 29, 1943 at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, where Larry remained a lifetime active member.
He found great joy in creating, building and refinishing wood items for others, in hunting and fishing, and in spending time with family. While living at Cannon Rivers, he shared his drawings of birds and flowers with fellow residents. He was the last remaining owner of Ten Bucks Lodge in Nevis, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife of 59 years, Bernie on August 30, 2002; his daughter, Bonnie Kay Benson on February 24, 2007; sisters, Corrine Jesme and Louise (Wilmer) Robinson; and brother, Carl (Helen) Benson.
