During all of his married life, Mr. Ahalt lived on a farm between Middletown and Burkittsville, about 3 1/2 miles southwest of Middletown, and about three years ago he moved to Middletown with his family.
He was one of the best known men of the Burkittsville and Middletown districts and was possessed of a high Christian character. For many years he served on the council of the Burkettsville Lutheran church and was prominent there in church work. After moving to Middletown, he transferred his membership from the Burkittsville church to the Middletown congregation. Mr. Ahalt became a director of the Middletown Savings Bank upon its organization in 1908, and had served in that capacity until his death. He was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
He is survived by his widow, who was a Miss Sheffer; and eight children, two daughters and six sons, as follows: Misses Clara and Laurena, at home; Ora, York, Pa,; M. Foster, Clarence L., Wilbur M., Lester R., and Clifford, all living near Middletown; three brothers and one sister: Mrs. Jacob Young, aged 89, of Middletown; Benjamin S., aged 87, near Broad Run; Jacob L., aged 85, near Middletown; Jushua D., aged 78, Middletown.
