Ellen Catherine Bowman, nee Cornwell age 93, of Batavia, former resident of Lake Forest for 47 years, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2015.

Ellen was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Dr. Francis and Clella Cornwell; she was the youngest of 8 children.

In 1943,Ellen married her Sullivan High School sweetheart, the late Earl Russell Bowman. Ellen and Earl are survived by their adored children: Susan, (Mike), Randall, Julie, Katie, and (Tad). Cherished grandchildren: Taylor, (Emilie), Michael, Grady, (Courtney), Melanie, (Eric), Colleen, Travis, (Loren), Tyler, Callie, Trey and Grace. Beloved great grandchildren: Mateo, Jakob, and Teagan.

Always busy, in addition to being a professional accountant, Ellen's extensive service to her community included: member of The Church of the Holy Spirit, Altar Guild and Spring Fair chairman, founding member of Lake County Care (formerly Lake Forest Volunteer Bureau), Lake Forest Hospital Volunteers, Hospice volunteer, LF/LB Senior Care volunteer, boy scout and girl scout leader, APT President, board member of Center Court and Kappa Alpha Theta Mothers' Club, Northwestern University and member of P. E. O.

Ellen was an avid sports fan and a Die-hard Cub's fan. She was a founding member of the G & T Golf Group and was a 3-time National Curling Champion.
