Samuel McTarnahan Black, 89, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012. He was born October 19, 1923, in Salinas.
Sam attended school in Salinas through high school; attending University of Colorado at Boulder where he met his wife of 65 years, Rosalind Elise Strand.
Sam was a Navy fighter pilot in WWII and worked in Public Works in Fresno county and was Manager of Operations in LA county for the RTD. Sam will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by four children; 13 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Service: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Garden of Memories, 840 Abbott St., Salinas.
