Life Legacy
The family of Billy Tom Peters, a longtime resident of Grant, OK, wants to inform friends and family of his passing from this life to his eternal rest on July 26, 2016.
He was born on February 21, 1935 in Mulberry, AR to Tom Ivey and Claudie Lee (Warford) Peters. He was the youngest of their children, Othell Oliver, Otha Mae and Betty Sue.
Billy Tom was a humble, giving man who enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren tremendously. He was a member of the United States Air Force from 1955 through 1957.
He married E. Joann Wilson on February 9, 1957. They were the proud parents of five children. Billy worked at Piggley Wiggley, Safeway and Ford Grocery Stores.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Othell Oliver Taff, sister, Otha Mae Sweet, wife, JoAnn, son, Paul Eric, grandsons, Jason Michael and Billy Todd.
He is survived by sister, Betty Daily and husband Earle of Natchez, MS, sons, David of Grant, OK, Curtis Lee and wife, Mechelle, of Paris, TX, and Billy Joe and wife, Brinda, of Paris, TX, and daughter, Dana Fields and husband, Bobby, of Whitehouse, TX. He is survived by nineteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Mike Irvin, nurses, caregivers and special friends, Ruth and Linda. The family also thanks the staff of Irvin Medical Clinic and the caring staff at Baptist Village of Hugo.
Visitation for Billy Tom Peters will be held on July 28, 2016, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on July 29, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive Funeral Home in Hugo, OK with Pastor Lynn Tomlinson officiating.
