Carol was born on March 9, 1930, in Norma, ND, the daughter of C.D. “Dick” and Laura Marie (Lund) Dickerson. She was raised in Norma and later in Kenmare where she graduated from high school in 1948. Carol met and married the love of her life, Alden Joe Ankenbauer, on September 7, 1948, in Kenmare. As Carol often said, “we met over a mouse.” The couple lived in Kenmare where Carol’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
She enjoyed crocheting and made numerous afghans for all. Carol was an amazing baker and cook and there was never a shortage of baked goodies at holidays or when a friend and neighbor stopped by.
Carol is survived by her children, Mari (Dennis) Dean, San Tan Valley, AZ, Lori (Joel) Lawson, Minot, ND, Jeffery (Robin) Ankenbauer, Mandan, ND, David (Colleen) Ankenbauer, Maryville, TN; 11 grandchildren, Lindsay (Sean) Ankenbauer, Chad (Angie) Jensen, Jackie Ankenbauer, Tia Knutson (Shawn Durward), Lora (Casey) St. Croix, JorDan Lawson, Joe C.
