Danny R. Rice Sr., 69, of Reading Mines, Stoystown, and Somerset, died July 25, 2016 at Somerset Hospital. Born in Johnstown May 16, 1947 to the late Carl Rice Sr and Freda (Connor) Rice. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Claude, Carl Jr. (Jean), Tom Sr. (Jane); an infant brother at birth; sisters Fay Woy and Pat Young; and brother-in-law Robert Shumaker. Danny is survived by his sons Danny R. Rice Jr. (Mitzie) and Jason Rice (Tonya); grandchildren Dalton, Kayla, and Gage; sister Jane Ogdon (David); former wife Judith Spangler Rice; brothers-in-law Lloyd Woy and Lloyd Young; sister-in-law Thelma Rice; numerous nieces and nephews including special nephew, “brother” David Woy; and caregiver and companion of 30 years Jean M. Sorber, her son Steven (Jessica), and grandson Benjamin P. Richards. Dan worked at various coal mines for over 40 years. There will be no viewing or visitation at his request. Interment at Stoystown IOOF Cemetery at a later time. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset.
