Services for Rev. Charles L. Plunkett, 82 of Tyler, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016 in the Chapel of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Wallace officiating. A private family burial will be in Black Oak Cemetery near Como. Charles entered into his eternal life on July 25, 2016 at his home in Tyler. He was born September 27, 1933 in Como to the late Charles Henry and Effie Olene Harbin Plunkett. As a young man he served in the United States Army and on August 26, 1956 he married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Sparkman. In the fall of 1956, Charles gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. After working at Frontier Wholesale in Lubbock for a time, he answered the call of God to preach. He was ordained June 17, 1971 by the Assemblies of God. He pastor churches in Hale Center, Post, Aubrey, Fort Worth, Troup, Sweeny Town, Winnsboro, Starrville and Victory Assembly of Tyler. He held revivals in many states and had a ministry that spanned 60 years. During that time, thousands of people were touched by the anointing of God on his life and the message he preached. Many ministers answered the call of God including his children under his ministry. He lived to love "Trish" and his family and to preach the gospel. He was a true man of God in every sense of the word, he lived what he preached. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Wayne and Bobby Don Plunkett. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Plunkett of Tyler; sister, Betty Bowman of Plains; three daughters and son is laws, Deborah and Curtis Butler of Justin, Lisa and Jackie Passmore of Sweetwater and Sharon and Farrell Roberson of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Charlie Plunkett, Jason Plunkett, Ricky Plunkett, John Plunkett, Nathan Robertson and Preston Robertson.
