SAMUEL HAWKINS, a former resident of this city, died in Atlantic City on Tuesday night, of general debility. The deceased, who was 71 years of age, was a civil war veteran and a member of Phil Sheridan Post, G. A. R. He conducted a cigar store for forty years in Market street, near Seventh, but about one year ago sold his business and removed to the Jersey resort. He is survived by his widow and three sons, William W., Samuel and Burton. A brother is James L. Hawkins of this city. The funeral will take place from the home of his son, William, at 107 West Twenty-third street.
