Mrs. Vera S. Abel
Mrs. Vera S. Abel, 88, formerly of 209 Elmwood, died Friday, Oct. 12, at a Topeka nursing home.
Mrs. Abel worked in the Kansas State Library during legislative sessions.
She was born Oct. 17, 1895, at Topeka, the daughter of Clarence J. and Ella E. Whitaker Eddy, and lived in Topeka most of her life.
Mrs. Abel was a vocalist and active in several vocal and music organizations. She also was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was married to Robert E. Abel in Topeka. He died Dec. 3, 1979.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Roberta Monteith, Topeka; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday on the Topeka Cemetery Patio. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. Mrs. Abel will lie in state from noon today until service time at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2825 N. W. Rochester Road, Topeka, 66617.
