BURT Elizabeth Temple Burt (Betty) passed away on Friday June 3, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL. Born December 3, 1932, Betty lived her early years in the Swissvale Community of Pittsburgh, PA. She was the daughter of the late Robert Temple and Mattie Hickman Temple, sister of Robert E Temple, and the loving wife of the late Thomas Reed Burt. Betty is survived by her daughter Patricia Burt Snyder, wife of William Craig Snyder (York, PA) and Thomas Keith Burt, husband of Stephanie Skarlis Burt, (Fleming Island, FL), and grandchildren, Christopher Reed Snyder (York, PA), Michelle Marie Burt (Richmond VA), Craig Robert Snyder (York, PA) and Thomas Robert Burt (Gainesville, FL). She met her husband of 60 years, Tom Burt, at Edgewood Presbyterian Church during their high school years. A dedicated wife and mother, Betty passionately committed her life to family. She was active in the Presbyterian Church first in Edgewood as a teenager, and also Brecksville OH. A graduate of Lake Erie College for Woman, Betty was a professional educator. She spent most of her teaching career with the Fox Chapel Area School District near Pittsburgh where she worked tirelessly with young children. After retirement, Betty enjoyed volunteering, working in her garden with Tom, playing tennis, swimming, dancing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 11, 2016, 11:00AM- Noon at Homewood Cemetery Chapel, 1599 S Dallas Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15217. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Betty's name to the Westminster Woods Julington Creek, Benevolent Assistance Fund, 25 SR 13, Jacksonville, FL 32259.
