Mrs. Plank was born Oct. 11, 1913, in Clarksville, Red River County, Texas, to Walter and Minnie Lee Brewer. She married E.L. Plank on July 27, 1960, in Clovis, N.M. He died April 7, 1986. She moved her family to Plainview in 1950 and worked as a waitress for the original Griddle Cafe for a number of years. Mrs. Plank and her husband co-owned and operated numerous motels in Plainview as well as in other towns. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Plank owned and operated the Dublin Shamrock Inn in Dublin, Texas, until she retired in 2000 at the age of 87 years. She moved to Granbury with her daughter after her retirement and moved back to Plainview in January 2006.
She is survived by one son and his wife, Ben and Pat Thompson of Plainview; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dorothy and Joe Hawkins of Granbury and Karen Feagley of Granbury; one brother, Marshall Brewer of Waco; two sisters, Gladys Winters of Mesquite and twin sister, Mae Cathey of San Antonio; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, her parents, three sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
